The kitchen was in a stunning new build property with open plan living room, dining room and kitchen.
The client wanted a sleek, timeless kitchen that could look neat and tidy when not in use as it was open plan to the rest of the living space. On the other hand, they wanted to avoid a stark, minimalist kitchen.
We opted for a full wall of tall cabinets complimented by a large, sociable island with seating for 4 people sat at an L shaped breakfast bar. This is a far more sociable solution to seating everyone in a long line on the back of an island.
We introduced a long horizontal open shelf to “soften” the full wall of tall cabinets. Here they could introduce accessories to make the kitchen feel more homely. This solution was also used on the recessed shelf over the floating cabinets on the island. On the island, the wrap round shelf with mood lighting gave an element of interest from every angle.
To keep the kitchen looking neat and tidy, we included our amazing pocket door larder, where the doors open and slide away to give an accessible prep space/gin bar when open or a clean, neat look when closed. The use of a deep, rich timber accent colour and a honed finish on the Dekton worktops added elements of texture to an essentially white kitchen.
Two single ovens, one with Vario Steam for added flexibility, combination microwave oven, warming drawer and a Venting Induction hob on the island, which ensured an unobstructed view to the rest of the living space.
