This new build house gave us a blank canvas to work with. The brief was for a great entertaining kitchen, with a bit of bling for someone who enjoys cooking.
The room was very long, not particularly wide and had very high ceilings., with insufficient width to have an island.
A raised breakfast bar formed in 80mm thick Corian provides a seamless sociable area for people to sit at and keep the chef company.
A touch of bling was added by using black glass back panels with rainbow sparkle behind the hob and breakfast bar. Down lighting from the extractor and below the breakfast bar really brings the sparkle to life at night.
We picked out feature walls in Farrow & Ball “All Black” paint too. And continued the theme with black appliances and a twin zone wine fridge.
To take advantage of the extra high ceilings, we double-stacked cabinets to take storage as high as possible. A handy space for items use every one in a while. This is much neater than leaving a gap to the ceiling – which invariably gets filled with clutter and cobwebs.
Single oven, combination microwave oven, combination steam oven, food warming drawer and plate warming drawer just about covers all angles for cooking. While a twin zone wine fridge covers the parties.
Another must have is the boiling and chilled water tap from Zip… convenient and energy efficient, they free up space andde-clutter the worktop.
